Tussah Tweed

Tussah Tweed is an exclusive 100% silk tweed yarn. Made from wild silkworms, the silk used in this yarn changes in colour due to their varied diet and can be anything from a pale ivory to a chestnut brown. This gives added depth and nuance when dyed on top of the natural colour. The silk moths are allowed to flee their cocoons before being processed into silk which means that Tussah Tweed is 100% cruelty-free.

With a beautifully selected range of colours, the tweedy flecks vary from subtle and subdued to vibrant and colourful. An absolute marvel, this yarn keeps the interest high and is easy to work with. It isn't slippery like most silk yarns and doesn't slide around the needles whilst working with it. This truly is a remarkable yarn that must be seen to be believed: a 100% silk tweed.

Silk is naturally thermoregulating which means that it keeps the body warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather. It absorbs moisture better than any other fibre and is highly breathable, making it perfect for summer garments.
